The Hay Barn is a beautiful large barn conversion set in the North York Moors, just outside the very pretty village of Hovingham.

Although the interior style is quite contemporary, the use of exposed brickwork and wooden beams maintain the feel of the old barn. There are 4 double bedrooms, two with a charming mezzanine level upstairs. The cottage also features a dramatic double height dining room, a large farmhouse kitchen and a very comfortable lounge area complete with wood burning stove. Flagstone flooring adds to the luxurious, rustic feel.

There are little touches inside and out which ensure the cottage’s year round appeal. For the summer months the south facing courtyard and gardens feature a hot tub, patio and barbecue area. With fantastic views across the countryside beyond it’s a gorgeous spot for al fresco frolics. In the winter months the log burning stove and comfy sofas make for the perfect cosy hideaway.

The cottage also boasts some fantastic leisure facilities which include it's own hot tub, there's also a mini-gym, treatment room, sauna and relaxation area available to use. And for the boys a fully stocked games room with table tennis, pool and table football guarantees all day amusement.

One of the bedrooms in The Hay Barn has a sofa-bed, so can sleep 10 adults upon request, with room for cots. Please note there will be an extra £50 supplement payable if you do require the sofa-bed. The Hay Barn can also be booked along with The Stables to accommodate larger groups of up to 12 people.

Local Area

The Hay Barn is set in the rolling Howardian Hills in the western reaches of the North York Moors. Designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1987, the lush pastures and woodlands of the western Moors play host to grand country houses, atmospheric ruins and handsome market towns.

The very pretty village of Hovingham is just a few minutes’ drive and features several pubs, a tea-rooms and local store. The beautiful market town of Helmsley is also close by and is well worth a visit. If you fancy a little pampering you’ll find a fantastic day Spa here; the Verbena Spa. Perfect for a little me time indulgence!

You’re also close to Castle Howard, York and the North Yorkshire coast, so lots of choice for day trips.
