Swinton North Yorkshire

• We have a picturesque spot on the Swinton Estate which is one of the most beautiful settings in the Yorkshire Dales. The 20, 000 acre Swinton Estate stretches from the River Ure and charming market town of Masham in Wensleydale up to the moorland dales and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. We are also located in the Nidderdale AONB

  Our woodland is spread over the hilltop and is not only home to our gorgeous rustic Shacks, built using traditional round wood timber framing techniques, but also Druid’s Temple, a local historical site and impressive folly constructed during the late 1800s. As you stroll round the woodland there is a plethora of breath taking views looking out over the moorland and valley below.

  Bivouac opened in 2012, having been designed by Sam and Beth Hardwick who (in partnership with The Swinton Estate) also project managed the restoration of the farmhouse and barns, and building of the woodland shacks and yurts.

  Bivouac has a Bistro Café, a shop, toilets and showers in the restored barn, Six Woodland Shacks, eight Meadow Yurts and a cosy Bunk Barn.

“Peaceful Paradise in North Yorkshire!”

Just arrived back from a break away staying at Swinton Bivouac in one of there wood huts in the forest. What an amazing experience. Such a lovely place to stay, the accommodation is excellent, No electricity, which was a novel experience for the children – we played games on an evening by candlelight which was just perfect The children had a fabulous time exploring the area, collecting sticks, riding their bike to the druids temple, going on walks around the area, building dens in the forest. It was just idyllic
